An error occurs when launching a program that requires elevated privileges from Project Nelson or File Manager "Nemo".

Details When you attempt to launch a program that requires elevated privileges from either Project Nelson, File Manager "Nemo" or SerachPN, one of the following occurs:
  • Your application does not launch, but there is no indication that this is so.
  • You get the following error:

    File not found.

  • You get the following error:

    The file you are trying to open could not be found. Check that you spelt it correctly and try again.

  • You get the following error, where Program Name is the name of the program you launched:

    The program Program Name was not found on your computer.
    If you've recently uninstalled Program Name, tell Project Nelson about it in SettingsPN.

Steps to reproduce Under Project Nelson's Applications page:
  1. Click the Run program icon.
  2. Enter the path of a program that requires elevated privileges into the text box that appears.
  3. Click the button labelled Run.
-OR-
  1. Click on an application for which the default program requires elevated privileges.
Under Project Nelson's Main page:
  1. Enter the path of a program that requires elevated privileges into the Run text box.
  2. Click the button labelled Run.
Under File Manager "Nemo":
  1. Navigate to a folder that contains a file that requires elevated privileges to run.
  2. Double-click the file.
Under SearchPN:
  1. In the Search Terms box, enter a search term that will bring up a file that requires elevated privileges to run.
  2. In the Location box, enter a folder that contains a file that requires elevated privileges to run.
  3. Click Search.
  4. When the file comes up, double-click on it.
Workaround 1Close the program. A dialog should appear reading "Windows detected that this program did not run correctly". Click Close, relaunch the program and try and launch the file that required elevated privileges again. The program should now launch correctly.
Workaround 2Hold down <Ctrl>, <Shift> and <Esc> keys and release them. When Task Manager appears, click on the New Task... button. Enter the path to the program that requires elevated privileges, and click OK. Close Task Manager.
Workaround 3 (File Manager "Nemo") Launch File Manager Nemo and navigate to the folder which contains the file that requires elevated privileges. Right-click the file and click Run as administrator.
Workaround 4 (SearchPN) Copy the path of the file excluding the file name from the Full path label. Launch File Manager Nemo and paste the path into the Location dialog. Right-click the file that requires elevated privileges and click Run as administrator.
